2017 Nicaragua Global Money Week

To participate in Global Money Week for the very first time, Banco Lafise, together with Fundacion Zamora Teran, will be conducting a series of lectures for both primary and secondary school students (?).  For the younger students, the “ABCs of Money” will be discussion, including topics such as “What is money?”, “What is and why do we save?” and “How to use a bank”. The goal of these sessions is for children from 4th – 6th grade to learn not only about these financial topics, but for the children to feel the experience of working in a bank. As such, an executive from the bank will take part in a question and answers session.

Furthermore, for older students, a workshop will take place entitles “Beginning without dying while trying. Keys to boost your internal and financial resources”. This session will cover a series of themes including: Your numbers: guide for making decisions; Separation of business finance and personal finance; Financial errors when starting out; Internal resources to leverage your resilience; Executive management for greater effectiveness; How to deal with complex situations and challenges.”

Para participar en la Global Money Week por primera vez, Banco Lafise, junto con la Fundación Zamora Terán, realizará una serie de conferencias para estudiantes de primaria y secundaria (?). Para los estudiantes más jóvenes, el "ABC del dinero" será discutido, incluyendo temas como "¿Qué es el dinero?", "¿Qué es y por qué guardamos?" Y "Cómo usar un banco". El objetivo de estas sesiones es que los niños de 4º a 6º grado aprendan no sólo sobre temas financieros, sino también para que los niños obtengan la experiencia de trabajar en un banco. Como tal, un ejecutivo del banco participará en una sesión de preguntas y respuestas.

Además, para los estudiantes mayores, un taller será realizado y titulado: "Comenzar sin morir mientras se intenta. Claves para impulsar sus recursos internos y financieros ". Esta sesión abarcará una serie de temas incluyendo: Sus números; guía para tomar decisiones; Separación de finanzas empresariales y finanzas personales; Errores financieros al comenzar; Recursos internos para aprovechar su capacidad de recuperación; La gestión ejecutiva para tener mayor efectividad y también sobre cómo lidiar con situaciones complejas y desafíos.


2016 Nicaragua Money Week

For the first time, Fundación FAMA participated in Global Money Week by organizing informative sessions on savings, responsible spending and consumerism in various schools and universities throughout Nicaragua. In the Centro Escolar San Martín de Porres, Colegio Hermano Pedro Betancourt, Universidad Centroamericana and Recinto Universitario Carlos Fonseca Amador, materials such as books, brochures and banners were handed out to students. In the universities, special attention was given to risk management as a main point of discussion during Global Money Week.

 

2015 Nicaragua Money Week

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Latin America, in collaboration with different local partner organizations, planned daily activities in 3 countries: México, Guatemala and Nicaragua. In Nicaragua CRS in collaboration with local institutions organized different activities in primary and secondary schools. The trainings focused on informing youth about savings, loans and promoting Global Money Week’s principles. Local partners also leaded several trainings on financial education and savings behavior. A drawing competition and mural creation with the theme of Global Money Week, save today safe tomorrow was among the activities preferred by the children present.

 

2014 Nicaragua Money Week

The Global Money Week celebrations and activities reached Nicaragua this year, with several organizations creating activities and events across the country. During 2014 Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and the Central Bank of Nicaragua joined efforts to make this global initiative a success.

The Catholic Relief Services held meetings in different localities in the San Juan de Rio Coco were they discussed the current status of financial education and the financial products available to children and youth in Nicaragua. The meetings involved representatives from various organizations concerned with the social and economic welfare and development of the young generation, as well as Nicaraguan children and youth themselves. A videoconference with youth from Puerto Rico and Colombia took place after the meeting and was enjoyed by the young representatives. Children and youth also had the opportunity to be hosted by the Central Bank of Nicaragua, in a wonderful experience that allowed them to learn about how money is printed and the story behind the evolution of the Nicaraguan currency.
